Monday during the day, Kim and I took a taxi to "Monkey Mountain", a shrine atop the small mountain at the opposite end of a Hau Hun's beach from town. 272m above the water, it is accessed either by stairways at the beach, or by road on the back side. We got dropped at a small fishing village at the base so we might walk the road up. We stopped at a small cafe for lunch. My Thai is not great, especially when translating the written word, but I believe the name of the cafe was "bad stomach cramps in 3 hours".
We then made our assent. The Wat atop the hill was much the same as many we had seen before, eccept that the grounds were populated with hundreds of monkeys. They weren't agressive with visitors unless you had food, but it was a bit un-nerving having to walk through large groups of them as they were quite aggressive with each other.
Walked the beach back to our room and......beach days.
A few more Hau Hin photos.
After seeing The Wizard of Oz, I think some caution around monkeys is appropriate. Were any dressed as bellhops?
